A New Journey

All this time I have been thinking that my life is going at a usual pace with normal routine stuff that life throws at us; but today as I was reading Eat, Pray, Love (G got me this ...a super surprise) I realized that just 6 months back I was single , working in some IT company oblivious of the fact that in the next 6 months my life would change beyond explanation or expectation.
I am married now  for one thing and to make that good news great... I have visited some of the most breathtaking places on earth some nature and some manmade. To this day I thought I should writing about the places and their significance but now I realize that the feeling it brought me is what I need to write.
I visited some great places like Mt Titilis in Switzerland, it was not as cold as I thought it would be but it was my first touch of snow and my husband and me had a lovely time there. The hotel we stayed in was Ramada which was almost like a home, very cosy and very welcoming. We had some snow ride and miserable failed at making a snowman but all was good. I remember going for shopping to be prepared for the cold Mt.Titilis  but it gave us a warm welcome.
We visited Rome, the first look was quite surprising as it was not that clean a place with Graffiti on all windows and walls and cracked roads but that was before we saw the Colloseum and then we were speechless. As we walked inside the Colloseum my mind drifted to the past when gladiators fought beasts on this very ground. It is hard to imagine how cruelty of man could be so beautifully constructed. We saw the Trevi fountains, the tomb of unknown soldiers and fell in love with the architecture. Also we saw many balconies of famous people I think Napoleon’s mother, Sophie Lawrence etc...
We visited the Vatican but apart from the many popes who have been buried there I could not hear much of the history of the place as we were giving broken walkie talkies and it was like trying to decode an alien’s message.
We visited Venice and took a Gondola ride. Well it was not as romantic as it is depicted in movies, but the gondola drivers (don’t know what they are called) are really skilful. It is sad that that was the day G was totally sick but he put up a strong face for me. We walked through the streets of Venice and it felt like we were lost in time. There were masks in every shop from the smallest to the largest size each one of them prettier than the last. It was a beautiful day with warm sunshine ...but I am sure G will have another side to this story what with all the vomiting and tiredness, but that very night G managed to get back on a highly oily Chinese cuisine  , I remember being mad at him for this  but he was fine the next day.
We visited Florence and walked through its streets somehow the city stunk of cow dung. We saw the nude statue of David and then some more nude statues and beautiful churches where Galileo and Michelangelo have been buried. Our visit was made interesting by an unexpected visitor Vivek oberoy and a huge mush. It was like one those Hindi movies where people think that a mush is going to disguise them. Vivek looked rather silly but then it was enough for us to feel great as we met a celebrity although he refused to take a pic with us and we being who we are managed to sneak a picture of his but alas his head was blocked by some hanging banner so now no one believes us. We got a view of the city from atop a mountain, it was a great view.
We visited the leaning tower of Pisa and admired the beauty of it. I somehow can’t get the whiteness of it out of my mind. We couldn’t go to the top of the tower but spent a very good amount of time clicking snaps in different poses; well it’s not every day we get to support a leaning building.
We visited Paris, the land of romance but before the romantic mood set in we had to move. We did go to the top of the Effiel tower, it was beautiful experience. After getting down from the tower me, G, Neha and Abhay wanted to take our pictures with the Eiffel tower as the background and even though we made the rest of the folks wait we managed to take great pics there and then ran back to the bus .
We got to see the night lights of Paris and the sparkling lights on Eiffel tower. It was magical. We ended our wonderful trip by going for a beautiful cruise on river Seine. It was a beautiful ride.
I don’t know If I have ever sat back to think about how this trip had made me feel. It was a magical trip. Thank you my darling G for making this happen for me.
